Darrin Strong Injured at Unadilla

On Sunday morning, September 28th, GNCC Racer Darrin Strong was injured while racing in the Unadilla GNCC. Darin went down after the Gravity Cavity section of the course during the first lap of the 10 a.m. motorcycle race. Darrin, from Deposit, New York, races as #392 in the 200 C Schoolboy Class. (He races in the WNYOA series as rider #714 in the 125 C class,
while his brother, Derik, races in the Quad A class
)
Darrin sustained head trauma and internal injuries in the crash and was transported to Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, New York. He is still in an induced coma and remains in critical condition.

UPDATE ON Darrin: Oct 3,2008
Darrin is still in a chemically induced coma to prevent movement and minimize the impact of the brain swelling and bleeding due the to head trauma he suffered. He is currently on a respirator since he was not able to breathe on this own initially. There was also a cut on his liver that has stopped bleeding. He has no broken bones and does not appear to have any paralysis at this time. He will remain in the coma and on the respirator for about another week. The family has asked that you keep Darrin in your prayers.

There are still rooms available for the WNYOA banquet. Do not try to make reservations online. If you try to make reservations online you will find that rooms are “No longer available” as the Holiday Inn has blocked internet reservations to this hotel so that WNYOA members have the availability of the rooms.
This means that if you want to make reservations you must call the hotel directly in order to reserve your room for the banquet.

As indicated on the points page, WNYOA will count your best "10" events as "Total Points" for year end. Any race score that is showing in red is considered a throwaway and not calculated in the "Total Points" column. Also, any "P" showing means that the rider actually started the race but did not complete the first lap and, therefore, was not shown in the results. Yes, this year we are doing the pee wee payout, and we hope to meet or exceed $1000.00 with 100% payout. I'm asking for anyone who is willing to donate cash, and we will accept prizes preferably things that BOTH girls and boys would enjoy (e.g. gloves, goggles etc.). This is in no way has anything to do with WYNOA politics. This is just a fun thing to recognize our youth.
